REAL PHOTO PRE-REMOVAL
Dear friend,

I've watched your long lashes twist and turn and hang over your eyes like a shower curtain, turning your whites into a lighter shade of pink (which matches your gloss perfectly by the way).

I realize its allergy season and I know how busy you are and all the reasons why you can't make it in for a fill, and yes I know you are a violent sleeper, and your lash artist is amazing and fully booked ...I'M NOT JUDGING YOU BUT... I'm going to tell you what I never had the courage to say before and I'll show you once they start growing out. I know a thing or two about lashes, so please hear me out...
The white flaky build-up is dandruff and dead skin cells (...look on the bright side, its not mites, so that's good news!) Those black clumps and chunks is poor use of glue and the strongest lash in the bunch is tugging on all the baby lashes which will eventually be pulled out or broken off with the next week of growth. (MYTH: lash extensions causes lashes to fall out. FALSE. Poor work does)!

The bald gaps between your fine lashes is a place where you will have to wait a long while before new lashes grow in its place and if you compare how thick & heavy those extension clumps are just a short millimeter away from the lash line, suggests that when you got them done last week, it was probably on your skin. Notice your baby fine lashes like thin stilts just barely supporting the extensions. You can imagine how much more stress you will be putting on the lash & the follicle its growing out of, with just a few more weeks of growth.  Don't get me wrong, your lashes looked good when you came out of the salon, but they never had a chance to begin with... And I didn't say a thing. So out of guilt, I wrote you a letter to say as nicely as I possibly can...

I love bulldogs. But the thought of your eyes in 6 months resembling one won't qualify you for having giving puppy dog eyes next time you need a favor.

PS Could Hallmark had said it any better? At least I know you will have a sense of humor about this post.

Love,
Judy

Hooded, Monolid, Asian eyes... Do you think lashes isn't for you? Think again!

LASH LAB: Hi this is Judy with Lash Lab

CALLER: Hi, I was wondering about your lash extensions and I'm Asian. I have really straight lashes that don't naturally curl upwards and I don't have a lot of lashes at all... I'm looking to get extensions and I want fullness and length. Can you do that for my eyes?

LASH LAB: Of course! Is this your first time doing lashes?

CALLER: Yes. I'm new to lashes and I was told Asian eyes are really hard to do, and because we don't have a lot of lashes, we can't achieve the fullness we are looking for. The strip lashes look so fake though!

LASH LAB: Haha, yes... for people that want strips, we do have a natural looking collection perfectly designed for someone that is trying to avoid that fake look but for people that really just want that convenience of having a naturally looking, full lashline... we can do that with a new technique called volume lashing. Its a totally different technique and allows us to apply many more lash tips, to create that fullness without any added weight. This way we won't weigh down the natura lash. It does take more time and it's a master artists' advanced technique. The products are different, the technique for pick-up and applicaiton requires much more skilled labor but the fullness you get (even asian lashes, haha) is beautiful. So, its totaly possible!

CALLER: My friends get lashes and they stopped because it was taking out their own lashes. Is it true lash extensions damages your lashes?

LASH LAB: Tell your friends to come to us for lashes next time. We will not require you take a break after a few fills. Had your lashes been applied by inexperienced artists or using a standard synthetic quality lash or glue product... I can understand why lower cost salons would require a removal. Truth is, lash extensions done properly with good products should not effect your new lash growth at all. Its when there is improper glue use or cheap lashes too long or heavy for your natural lashes that you should really take a break. But the next step is DON't GO BACK! Pay a little more up front, knowing you won't have this problem and you will protect your lashline so the baby hairs and new growth actually grow in. This new growth and baby lashes will grow to be long lashes that we can lash at the next visit! If your natural lashes are falling out in clumps, its safe to say... you are doing a disservice to your own natural lashes.

(Client booked and voila! Notice the natural lash line, no clumpy glue, no plastic shine, very fluffy and full lash tips that look completely real from the side too!)

VOLUME technique lashes, with a slight flare at the corners to create a natural yet subtle cat shape for accentuating her natural slender cat eyes. We used a curl that is curly enough to reach up and over her hooded lids so that she can appreciate seeing the lash tips reach up and over her eyelids as opposed to being just visible on the side. Needless to say, another very happy client with eyelash extensions from LASH LAB. If you want to chat about your unique request, we can offer advice over the phone too and help you decide whats best for you! Protect Your Lashes! Don't Fear Water!!!

I cannot stress the importance of keeping your eyes clean; and I don’t just mean using eye makeup remover & washing your face. It is especially important when you are wearing lash extensions to really get in between your lashes and wash away all that leftover makeup and debris on your lashline that makeup remover and a Q-tips aren’t able to get rid of.

If you ever begin to experience allergies & irritation issues with your eyes, make sure you clean your lashline thoroughly on a daily basis. Trust me, it makes such a huge difference!

Some good indicators that you're not being thorough enough are: eyes feeling cloudy, secreting mucous-like liquid, flaking, itching, and inflamed. Although My strongest suggestion is that you wash your eyes with Johnson’s Baby Head to Toe Wash (shown above).

After washing your face, take literally just a dot of the Head to Toe Wash and gently rub it along your top lash line, under your lashes, & around the inner & outer corners of your eyes (keeping your eyes closed the entire time), then rinse with cold water.

I suggest doing this every night after you take off your makeup and wash your face. TAKE YOUR TIME! Washing your face/eyes should not be a task you rush through; just imagine what all that dirt, oil, makeup, and debris can do to your skin if you leave it there over night!

If you have had any agitation issues with your eyes and want to talk to someone, feel free to comment below or shoot us an e-mail to chat more about eye hygiene & lash extension care/maintenance!

XO

Imperfection is Perfection

Imperfection is Perfection!!!

Picture
I know. YOU hate it. But little do you know the person across the way is admiring that very feature about yourself, that you hate. You know why? It's character, it's personality. It's what makes you unique and the way that minor (major-to-you) imperfection appears in the mirror is EXACTLY what makes you genuine, natural & real.

Consider all the cosmetic services we undergo to achieve "perfection." Its ironic, the money spent to create symmetry, eliminate imperfection and change what we were born with to create a look so perfect, that you've effectively put yourself right back to square 1 - there is no perfect in beauty. Your imperfections are what make you, YOU... and that is beautiful.

The most convincing set of lashes is actually the least uniform set. You need layers of lashes, you need different lengths and curls to create it.

Lash Lab's investment in highly natural looking lash materials combined with our technique to use varying lengths & curls for a less than perfect lashline, is a trick that only Master Artists know how to pull off. It takes something that's not real (extensions), & mimics something that IS. That's why you won't find our attention to detail at a run-of-the-mill-salon price. It's far more difficult to create the illusion that something is real when it is not. Its like buying silk flowers... you can go cheap, if you want. Slapping on lashes is the easy part. The magician in us is what you are paying for.

Even some of the best artists make mistakes - top mistake being low quality products. "Crunchy" black plastic lashes will fail every time in tricking people into believing those are yours. Sure, you walked out of the salon with a full, dark lashline but last we checked, midnight black + shine all in one length isn't how real lashes look. If thats what you are going for, we'd rather see you go with a high quality strip lash than to have you settle with low quality extensions any day of the week. (Visit lash-lab.com for our collection of luxury mink, pony & sable false lashes).

There's a saying in the lash industry amongst industry experts, "The most expensive set of lashes you will ever pay for, is the one you paid the least for. The damage we see (and you don't) is rampant out there so do yourself a favor. Splurge on a NATURAL looking set of lashes and dare to be naturally you.

PS - Im secretly jealous of the mole, the freckles and even a scar. It gives you a sexy-vixen factor, a Sunday-morning-girl-nextdoor factor or a dangerously-Mrs.-Smith quality that most would just kill for (and you spend your time cursing in the mirror?! Shame on you...) Throw on a pair of sexy high heels & a LBD... forget about it!!!! You are soooo perfect just the way you are.  Own it.

xoxo
